I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. While I grew up in a Christian home, it was not until my 20’s when I met Jesus and knew him personally as my Lord and Savior. And as I go through life, my relationship with Jesus gets stronger.
When I married my husband, we had to compromise on a church. He is of Puerto Rican descent, and I am Korean. We initially attended my church together, but it was hard for him to adapt to a foreign language. We then tried a Spanish church, which is where I had a hard time due to my lack of Spanish speaking skills. We then compromised for an American church and ended up at Coastal! We both immediately fell in love with it and became active members. Our daughter is also thriving in Coastal Kids.
Our daughter was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, and while it caused us a great deal of pain and stress in the beginning, it eventually bought us deeper in our relationship with Jesus. Tetralogy of Fallot is a congenital heart defect, which caused our baby to be born with a hole in her heart. After her successful open-heart surgery, we are now focused on raising our little girl with the love of Christ in our hearts. I truly believe all things work out for our good and the Glory of God.
