Jayden Whitfield Glenwood Worship Associate

Jayden’s Story

I’m the son of a pastor (you might know him!) with an older brother and two younger sisters. Church culture was always prevalent in our household, and it wasn’t until I found myself with nowhere to go and no one to turn to that I learned how badly I needed saving, and more importantly a Savior. While not at home, I re-encountered Christ watching a YouTube livestream on my iPad that only had 7 viewers, and coincidentally my brother was the worship leader at this church. I shortly after watched a moving service from my friend's house on a military base. Bawled my eyes out (the happy Jesus tears!) and immediately felt urged by the Lord to reconcile with my family, and more importantly to never take my life or relationship with my Heavenly Father for granted. Now I’m both an official pastor’s and prodigal son!

Ever since then, I’ve hit the ground running and not turned back. I shortly after rededicated my life to the Lord, worked hard, and ended up at Liberty University where I got my Bachelor’s in Commercial Music (music industry, not TV commercials) with a concentration in performance. In the years to follow I interned/served at a handful of different churches, trying to grow as a worship leader and director and discovered my newfound love for writing and performing music. Within my freshman year at Liberty University I’d been given the privilege of rapping at Liberty University’s After Party alongside artists like Jordan Richard and Vacation Manor.

I now live back here in Virginia Beach, and upsell vintage clothing and collectibles in my free time. Amongst other things I’m a self-proclaimed pretentious movie, pop culture, and music snob, and can geek out about artists, genres, and critiquing movies anytime, so please take me up on this! I love watching anime, video games, comics, long conversations about literally anything under the sun, skating, and rock climbing. Above all else, I love, love, love Jesus Christ!!! :)

BONUS: While it isn’t a personality trait, I can often be swayed with Vietnamese Coffee, a local coffee shop or Pho.
